D4 Advanced Media Announces Partnership with Vertical Explorers
to Launch Research Capsule into Upper Atmosphere to Record Solar Eclipse

Reno, Nevada – D4 Advanced Media today announced a partnership with Vertical Explorers to sponsor and provide cameras for the deployment of HAB3 – Solar Explorer, a high altitude balloon capsule that will be deployed on August 21, 2017 in Garden Valley, Idaho. It’s mission it is capture and record high-definition footage of the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse within the path of totality and in the upper atmosphere (above 100,000 ft).

“We expect to see a unique perspective on what is one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights – a total solar eclipse.” Said John Dunlap, President D4 Advanced Media.

The Solar Explorer will be carrying a payload capsule of ten GroPro cameras positioned strategically throughout the capsule to capture the eclipse. It will be lifted by a Kaymont 1200g high altitude helium balloon which will travel to about 100,000 ft over Garden Valley, Idaho. Once it’s altitude has been reached, it will float back to earth, recovered and it’s footage and telemetry analyzed.

Careful planning and calculations have been made to ensure the capsule’s launch and flight path will put it in perfect position to capture the solar eclipse. Weather patterns and recent forecasts suggest the mission will be a success.

Dunlap added about the project, “Partnering with Vertical Explorers allows us to help a talented, local group achieve something truly extraordinary, and we’re excited to be a part of it.” Commenting on the outside the box nature of this special project at D4, her added, “While we’re a digital media company comprised of marketers and designers- we’re also innovators and technologists who embark on specials projects that inspire and push the limits of our knowledge and capabilities. This excites us and gives us exposure to new technology.”

D4 will display on its website a Google Maps tracking tool to view the real-time flight path of the capsule. Visit www.D4am.com on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:00am (PDT).
